queen_of_cheap wrote: »I'm a bit like that tonight- home from work, compile list, bus to M's, shopping, straight to allotment. Home to sort out sprout plants in the garden that had been invaded by caterpillars , pod two bags of peas, slice lemons and get them in the freezer and go back to the local shop because I forgot all about my shopping list and forgot to buy milk :rotfl:
And then shove two slices of toast down my neck
Eating from the allotment is brilliant but there's loads of prep. I have to wash and rewash and wash stuff again. I couldn't bear to find a bug:eek:
Picking peas took me ages the other day.......I kept thinking to myself that I had a bag frozen in the freezer which I could be using:oTo do is to be. Rousseau

I think I thought it was 2 shops as pretty sure it was only 2 last time but my memory is shot.
I have just had to use some of my "major fiddling" allowance & check my emails. Spooky one reminding me of the offer couple hours ago.
So sadly quoting:
"Don't forget to take advantage of our fantastic offer, shop three times and get £20 off** £40 on your fourth shop.
Simply have three online grocery orders delivered, spending £40 or more* on each, before Sunday 7th September 2014 and we'll send you a £20 eCoupon** on Tuesday 9th September 2014 to use on your fourth shop."
But I still have time to take advantage with the fruit and veg e coupon, when does the finest wine 20% run out DM? TIA
Oh, well if it is 3 shops, im not playing any more!!!
Not sure TS, they never have the finest fizz in I like, so I cant order it, so I take no notice now (But thats another story)“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

I have no issue with whoopsies as food doesn't last long enough in our house to go any further out of date
.
The only issue at the moment is bread going mouldy due to the weather (sometimes still in date) so am more cautious at the moment, but normally get RTC bread as it is gone in a day anyway.
Anon
Keep your reduced bread in the fridge anon it lasts so much longer. On tuesday I got a white loaf in wrose so many whoopsies so unable to store it in fridge noticed a little bit of mould today. I dread to think how long I normally keep them in the fridge. HTH0 -

Oh and nearly forgot, thanks aau for mentioning the Ts Orchard Fruit and Veg E voucher, I haven't been checking my emails as being careful with my "major fiddling" allowance while over here.
I think when I get back I will be able to combine it with my 3 £40 shops to get £20 off another if I have enough time left. Totally out the loop so not sure when I am meant to have done the shops by.
It's only 2 £40 shops to get the voucherand it's by 24th August. I have the 2 shops on my account and will do 2 on OHs before 24th

Hi gorgeous. I will have to check. I was too busy trying to crack the last episode of FHS. How are you anyway?
Hope everyone is OK and that you have all had a good day.
Apologies for my rant yesterday. It got a bit too much for me and I just needed to let it all out. Part of me is ashamed of myself as I am in good working condition and I have a house and somewhere to live when so many in the world have nothing, but like I said, it all got a bit too much and after reading what the gorgeous CALMSPIRIT was going through, it just really wound me up. Thanks for all the kinds words though folk. It was very much appreciated and it meant a lot to me. :A:A:A0 -

What level are you on now? Just had another crack at it and now stuck on 647. It's evil. :rotfl:'I solemnly swear that I am up to no good'0 -
Jelly_Biactol wrote: »Well, my Morries plan of campaign is going well so far. Picked up some banana boxes for longer-term storage, have cut out the vouchers (am keeping the newspapers to wrap up any fruit such as apples for long-term storage), checked my stock of recycled jars (about 40-50), and I even went to the JB Lending Library - it's open late Thursdays, and I've got lifetime membership - to pick up some recipe books for ideas:
There's sooooo many great-sounding recipes to choose from - Spiced Cranberry & Roasted Orange Jelly, Pears Poached in Wine, Peach Melba Compote, Blueberry Ketchup ("both fresh and familiar", will definitely have to try that one!), Pear & Vodka Jelly ("simply melt over poached pears for the perfect dessert"), Roasted Pear Puree ("a rustic sauce with lots of amped-up flavour"), Sweet Pickled Plums ("you can nibble on these just as they are"), Apricots in Honey Syrup ("the very essence of summer in a jar"), Cranberry Molasses ("drizzle over salad for an unexpected blast of flavour"), Dried Apricots (didn't realise drying fruit was so easy, in the oven at 170C for 4-8 hrs depending on fruit, with oven door propped open with wooden spoon to let the steam out) ... I just don't know where to start:rotfl:
If any of the recipes sound tempting, let me know and I'll see if I can post them.
i am impressed never thought of going to library so many good ideas, dried fruit is good the kids like apples sprinkled with cinnamon i have my dehydrator ready for when i get to m0 -

I got a bit of a shock when I went there tonight- at the weekend I'll be coming home with cabbages, radishes, lettuce, beetroot, mint and French beans, rhubarb and blackberries!
It never occurred to me that the cabbages would be ready so soon
I have pea pods on my 7 inch high plants though
