A little advice please? Switching incentives

Hi all
I looked at the Halifax Ultimate Reward Account including phone and travel insurance along with breakdown cover and home emergency cover.
I was just about to apply when I saw they don't offer the £100 bonus to RBS customers. When I spoke to a customer advisor they said it was the fault of RBS and they wouldn't waive £10 fee either.
The chap was disinterested and couldn't wait to get me off the phone so I didn't get to ask everything. I've googled and searched this site but cant seem to find the answers.
Does it mean I can't have any switching benefits from other accounts as I signed up for RBS as a youth?
If i applied for another account would I have to sort all the switching of salary and DDs?
How is the % interest calculated? I know this may be a n00b question
There's the FlexPlus Nationwide Account which offers similar and I'm not sure what to do.. I would meet criteria for most accounts I think with minimum pay-ins, DDs etc.
Really I want phone cover, breakdown and health would be nice. Cheapest phone cover I can find is about £76 and breakdown £62 so would be more than £120.
Any advice greatly appreciated!

Where does it say the Halifax switching offer isn't available to RBS customers, I can't find anything on the website or in the terms and conditions of switching that says its not available to RBS customers. Its not available for Bank Of Scotland customers as that's part of HBOS which is part of Halifax.
RBS Royal Bank Of Scotland nothing to do Bank Of Scotland RBS is part of Natwest group of banking and nothing to do with HBOS.
As for incentives read the forum there's been a lot of threads about switching incentives and what accounts to use for getting the best out of your money.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -
"Customers switching a Bank of Scotland bank account to Halifax are not eligible for the offer."...I saw they don't offer the £100 bonus to RBS customers.
Bank of Scotland (not to be confused with RBS) and Halifax both belong to HBOS group. This is the reason why BOS customers are not eligible, not "the fault".
And AFAIK usually you don't have to switch the salary to get a bonus.
Also the cheapest breakdown cover (with home start) is £40, not £62:

Halifax is actually part of Bank of Scotland according to http://www.halifax.co.uk/helpcentre/legal-information/:Halifax is a division of Bank of Scotland plcdr_adidas01 wrote: »RBS is part of Natwest group of banking
Likewise, Natwest is part of RBS group!
Notwithstanding the actual hierarchy, the general principle is right though, i.e. Halifax is connected to BOS and neither is connected to RBS....0 -

I think that this means that switching an RBS (BOS?) account won't qualify. You can switch a different account to get the bonus.
If you are an existing customer of BOS (or Halifax) then you can not get a second switching incentive if you have had one since (about) three years.0 -

Are you not getting what others and myself have said RBS (Royal Bank of Scotland) is a different bank than BoS (Bank Of Scotland).
Royal Bank Of Scotland is part of Natwest group!!
Bank Of Scotland is part of Halifax Group (HBOS)
They are two different banks which are nothing to do with each other.
As Stated you cannot switch a BoS (Bank Of Scotland) to Halifax to get the switching incentive as as they are part of the same group.
