Why 2 new Barclaycards?
Comments
-
Hi
I can't find the barclaycard Amex cash back card on their website. Is this not currently available to new customers?
Alex0 -
no, i dont believe it is.
it has replaced their various 'Cashback' cards. & apparently they then plan to make it available to new customers.
....but hopefully they are getting plenty of negative feedback;)0 -
I've just received my normal monthly letter with rates for transfers. They're offering two years 0% for a 3.9% fee. That's the longest period I can remember. Cash until May 2015 at 1.9%.
They must be pulling out the stops to keep people.0 -
So far couldn't pay with Amex at the following.
Stagecoach (online via world pay)
H&M
Local Optitians
One Independant Retailer.
Haven't tried it everywhere I shop as yet.0 -
MBNA have a similar dual setup with their airline cards
A good proportion of websites will take Amex directly or via Paypal.
The only shops that I use regularly that don't take it are Aldi, Lidl and B&Q.
It is the only non-debit card that can be used at Costco.
Keep another type of credit / debit card you'll be fine...This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I also just receive this offer. Exactly the same e.g
Option 1. Two years 0% for a 3.9% fee.
Not an attractive option to me.
Option 2. Cash until May 2015 at 1.9%
It seems a good option although I am aware I will not make much of it as it is only until 2015 and not large sum of money involved.
Regarding Option 2 I still have spare capacity to be put into 3% (2.4% net) high interest current account. So a profit margin of about 0.5%. Say I could transfer into a current account the amount of £2000, I will be making about £100 (pro rata). Not much but every little help. Assuming it will take about 15 minutes of my time in term of phone call and I might be able to find a way for free call for this....
I would like to know ..
- The possible pitfall that I might not aware of or if any of my assumption is unrealistic ?
The offer isn't for a full year, (9 months) so you won't get the full 2.4%
The 3.9% for 2 years (1.95 per year) could go in zopa with a guaranteed 5%. You would then end up with varying timescales though, the money would be due before you received it back from the people you loaned it to.0
