Tax Credits and Ex Partner

HI people,

This is thr first time I have used a forum so here goes.

My ex wife is asking me for money towards the out of school care for our 6 year old son.

I am positive she is receiving tax credits and help towards this

She works and she is saying that the out of school costs are £120 a week and I have to contribute.

How can I find out if she is, shuld I pay her the money?

Can I claim for the child care?

Please help.

PS I am using my partners login , I am a male ha ha

she wont get all the childcare costs covered.
the maximum is 70% nut the exact amount would depnd on income.
    do you pay her maintenance?
i think, that as the childs father, you would want to help provide for all the necessaries incurred on his behalf

If you pay her a decent maintenance amount then I guess you are contributing; if you are not, then I think if she gets 70% covered by tax credits then you should pay 15% each.

If you were to pay the costs directly to the nursery then it would reduce the amount she could claim if she were getting tax credits.

70% is the absolute maximum amount that can be claimed, so the mother may well be paying more than 30%

Thanks Nannytone, I don't know how it actually works. I guess if Mum wants more help then she will have to be honest with the Dad and show him some actual figures.
