Well I seem to have lost control of the budget slightly this week, I even stopped recording my spending on my app
First time I have done that since I started this budget. On the bright side I think I am only £10 over budget for the week, which isn't bad and on the very bright side I didn't touch the electric or petrol money this week so I have an additional £50 to add to the oil heating fund.
My budget always starts on a Thursday when I get paid, but we really need groceries tonight. I think I will head to Asda and get them and then just put the spend in the app tomorrow. Sometimes this budgeting can be a right pain the !!!! but then I look at how much I have achieved and say keeping going.
My big spa day is coming up this Saturday I cant wait. I have never been to a spa before and hubby and I never do anything on our together so I am super excited.0 -

Hi Maggie, just wanted to pop in and enjoy your spa day! Relax & unwind0

Just paid the accountants bill as he has wrote to me twice and has also sent emails :mad::mad:
And breath... so that's one more bill of my list.
Its day 2 of the weekly budget and I only have £80 left, and I have a physio apt on wed which will be another £30 from the budget. I have groceries sorted for a few days so fingers cross I can do this.
I will not go over budget.... I hope0 -
Just checked my spending app and I have £59 left but need £15 for oil heating and £30 for physio which leaves me £14 until Thursday. I have tonights and tomorrow nights dinner sorted only Wednesday left to get... I think I can do this.
I have paid the speeding fine and the accountants bill also this weekend which totals £444 !!
The car tax is to be paid on the 3rd November, £95 for my car and £125 for hubbys car, but I need to renew my car insurance this weekend and the cheapest quote I got was £400 which is up from last year.
I still haven't touched my emergency pot which has £505, however I had to use my little savings pot and rent money and only have £74 leftHubby gave me £120 of his wages this weekend and there is more rent due this weekend which will take me back up to £504. This should cover the car insurance and if hubby gives me some wages this weekend the tax as well.
I also need to get the kids some Christmas presents. They both want iPhones. I have decided to purchase 2 iPhone 5cs on ebay second hand. As I really don't want to be tied to any long expensive contracts. I have budgeted £220 per handset and £10 per month for a sim only contract. At the minute I am paying £7.50 per month for their sims so not a big increase.0 -
The end of another weeks budget and I have just scrapped in under budget... Just. What has happened? at the start I was averaging about £45 leftovers for my savings pot every week. Maybe I have taken my foot of the pedal a bit... oh well at least I am not over budget.
Off my list of upcoming expenditure the current status is
Tax 2 cars £99 each (OH's car actually cost £123.50 but mine cost £94.50. I have paid hubbys and mine is to be paid by DD on 3rd Nov)
Blinds for house £265- Not paid
Accountant £384 - PAID
Car Insurance £350 - Cheapest quote I can get now is £400 going to sort this out this weekend
Brothers bday £40 -Not paid
Mums Bday (60th) £200 - Not Paid
Speeding Fine £60 - PAID
House Insurance £200 - Cheapest quote I got was £107, still to be paid
Total £1676 - total still to be paid £1108, I also have money set aside for insurance this week, which will take it down to £708.50. I really don't want to touch my emergency fund as I really want some sort of safety net.
Told hubby that now that we are nearly half way there, I am not paying any debt over November/December and I am going to concentrate on having a nice Christmas something we have not done in a very long time. We might even buy each other pressies :T:T0 -
Just treated myself to a little lunch with the girls from work. I used to eat out all the time with my colleagues and it was great fun, but stopped several years ago in an effort to save money and because hubby wasn't working. Lunch was £7 and it was absolutely gorgeous, Cajun chicken with salad and potato wedges. Hubby goes to his mums on Friday after work and she always feeds him so I think I might start eating out on a Friday more often.:)
Went running last night with my dodgy hip and I am suffering for it today but it was so good to be out exercising again.0 -
I forgot to add, I am off next week on Annual leave, I only get 5 weeks a year and have to take two at Christmas. I had a week of at Easter and a week in July, so I am really really looking forward to it.
I have nothing planned except a couple of boxset marathons. Oh and I promised my mum I would take her to IKEA... Cant be angered today.0 -
Well I'm back from my weeks leave and on a complete downer. That's the problem with taking time of work you always have to go back.
My Savings have taken an awful bashing this week. I have completely lost track of where my spending is. That's another problem with holidays you lose your routine. Anyway time to knuckle down and get back on track.
Update on finances Emergency Fund has £535 Rent pot has £200, oil heating pot £200 and weekly budget has £20 left.
I have to renew car insurance and house insurance in two weeks time £510, my mums 60th in 3 weeks time and pay for the new blinds I bought £265. Hubby has no work at the minute so this all needs to come out of the rent pot.
I will have to use the emergency fund for the kids Christmas presents.
Need to sit down now at lunch time and see what food I have in the house to get me to Thursday.0
