From an earlier post...
Caxton Fx Global Traveller 2.75% from everything.
Fair FX Anywhere 1.4% from everything plus £1.50 for ATM withdrawals.
My Travel Cash multi currency 2.99% from everything.[/QUOTE]
Personally, if I were to choose a card, I would go for Kalixa Pay. Free here.
Unbeatable for purchases anywhere. No exchange rate fee at all.
If using at an ATM, take a decent chunk out. The equivalent of £100 will cost out at 2.25%. £200, 1.5%, £300, 0.75%
Considering that other currency cards shave 2% to 3% off the exchange rate, it's easy to see that you can match or better them when it comes to cash withdrawal value. The others can't compete at all when it comes to purchases.
Compare their(Kalixa Pay) offered rates (Your currency is GBP)0 -
Agree with all of the above from NiftyDdigits, however in India in practice it is usually only the higher end/more expensive merchants that take cards.
Have hardly ever used mine in many trips other than at ATM's.Turning left avoids some of the idiots (only some)0 -
Yeah I think it will be mainly ATMs I use0

If you intend to make a lot of smaller withdrawals in India, say £50 at a time, consider Caxton Global. If at least £100 each time, Kalixa Pay.0

Many ATM's in India will only allow you to withdraw Rs10,000 in one transaction (£100 ish) but you can do this twice in a row.Turning left avoids some of the idiots (only some)0
