Bus from Newark to Manhattan?

My DD is off to NYC in a couple of weeks. She's been before but this time the best value flights were to Newark on the way out but JFK return.
For anyone who's done this recently: is the airport bus the easiest/best value way to get into Manhattan from Newark?
Any advice?
TIA

The bus is not the easiest, never found it reliable when I lived there (ended up getting family to pick me up or a cab).
Get a cab; they aren't that expensive.
You could even pre-book her a cab with greeting at the airport, but it may work out more expensive.0 -
Cab is $50 minimum plus tip.
Shared van is $21.
Express bus is $16.
You've also got the Airtrain/ PATH option, but assuming the Express is convenient to where she is staying I'd go for that.0 -
It has been a while since I've done it but I used the train. When we used a shuttle one time it was a nightmare, but that was because the driver didn't know his way around.0

The Airtrain service is now back up and running again having been taken down for a service and is a good option. It takes you to Penn Station around by West 34th Street and Madison Square Gardens
Here's a link to Newark airport which explains all your options.

Hope this helps.0 -

Yes there is. I've used it a few times and have found it really good. From memory it costs around $12 but you can check costs and timetable on website. It's operated by NJ transit. When getting the return train from Penn you need to make your way to the NJ transit section of the station as each rail company has their own area.
Also bear in mind that there is a Penn station in Philly - not to be confused!0 -
Newark to Manhattan is more like $65-$70 in a taxi
I've used both the Bus and the Airtrain -both were fine but bus wasn't very clean (but suited me as I was going to W 42nd Street which is adjacent to the Port Authority where the bus starts and finishes)I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0
