I was nervous of Steam as I went to sign up and saw the word subscriber! It does seem cheaper though - is it something I can unsubscribe from straight away?

No students in the house unfortunately. Wish I'd discovered this when I was a student. Will be teaching my 2 year old to budget as soon as he's old enough!

Steam is just a software platform sort of akin to iTunes or Google Play Store type thing - nothing to be afraid of and definitely legit!

You will need to install a piece of software from Steam and then run YNAB from it once for Steam to 'download' your YNAB activation code (you shouldn't nee to install YNAB all over again), but you can then remove the Steam software afterwards if you want to, and can unsubscribe from any emails if you so wish.

Bit more info on YNAB/Steam from YNAB site: https://www.youneedabudget.com/support/article/using-ynab-on-steam

I have deleted my referral codes and transferred details to the referrals section.

People are asking on this thread if anyone has any referral codes, so I assume it will be ok to direct them to that section.

Where has this programme been all my life! I don't know how I've managed it, I'm halfway through the free trial, and I can see by the end of this month I will have enough money left to pay my bills next month, without touching next month's money! I'm definitely buying it at the end of the trial.

headachesrus have you tried to win a copy before actually buying one?

I won a copy from watching the 1st live webinar. It's got to be worth a try if you can find one running at a convenient time.

And I agree - YNAB is a lifechanger!

I'm really trying to get my head round YNAB as I really want and NEED it to work for me.

BUT I don't know if I'm doing it wrong as I'm just not getting it. :(

For example, I'm paid usually around the 25th of the month and most of my bills are set to come out between the 25th and 1st of the following month. If I enter that income as, say income for May (ie. May's payday), then it doesn't allow me to access it in June. Do I just lie and tell it it's income for June? But then it won't be right when I try and reconcile from the 25th to the beginning of the next month and this confuses me!

Any tips as to getting round this please? I'm sure it's very simple and I'm missing it somehow!

I have watched 4 or 5 of them, with no luck. Was planning on watching some more when I can find a good time to watch. Well done on your win.
