You have to email them with a copy of your student ID or some form of proof you are a student.
They then email you with a key that basically extends your trial until December 31st.
When I did mine they replied really quickly!
I'm only a part time student too, but there were no questions asked, literlly emailed my ID and got a response really quickly with the key on it!0 -
Thank you very much January 2015 and Minty 123 for your help and quick replies. I will get on to it straight away.0

Hi and thank you to everyone who has posted on this excellent thread. After reading and rereading it I downloaded the free trial. I now have only 5 days left and I know I just can't manage without it. I'm sure I read somewhere that you could download it free if you were a student but I can't seem to find any mention of it on their website now. Does anyone know if it's still available? I'm only a part time student but thought I'd give it a go.
Hi
Looks like it's all done via email. Check out their blog page for full details.
Hope you get it for free!
Edit: Ignore - I see you already have the info0 -
Yes I have already had the info but thank you anyway kensiko. I hadn't looked on their blog page.0

I'm really confused and I'd been doing so well until now.
I've just reconciled my accounts.
My bank account, credit card and ynab account balances all match however it's now showing I have £47.20 available to budget for March. This is greyed out.
I have £0 available to budget for April - I get paid tomorrow.
If I add £47.20 to a category for March it shows in red as overbudgeted by £47.20 for April.
Does anyone know what I've done????0 -

Many thanks to those who helped me. I got my free student download. By the time it runs out I'll have saved more than enough to buy a copy. Actually, I might set up a category.0

My opinion is that YNAB practically pays for itself in terms of freeing up money which would otherwise have been spent without acknowledgement. I didnt manage to get a free copy anywhere, just the standard $6 discount, but I am more than happy to pay the £30 for the full product. Theoretically, there ought to be an upgrade to version 5 dropping soon if they keep to schedule, but YNAB towers are frustratingly silent on the matter.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it

I think my copy was £7-10 in the Steam Sale - OH bought it for me for my birthday. But I too would be happy to pay full price having seen what it can do for me.0

I'm another who paid full price but definitely worth it as has saved me far more than the £30ish it cost!
I was already saving some money each month but that has probably tripled or more compared to what it was - and we're paying for a lease car over 2 years and in addition I'm saving enough to pay the balloon figure at the end so we'll own it outright. Don't want to go down the road of constantly paying out each month to get a new car!
Would never have been able to save this amount before YNAB. No idea why it works but it just does - probably because you think more about what you are buying and how much you're spending.
