It's late and I'm very tired - however I just had to come on and tell you my news

I've just listened to another two online classes and I have won a free copy of Ynab!

Yes, and I still need to listen to the reconciliation one again even though I heard it tonight.

It does take a while to get to grips with it. I might start a new budget from scratch in April as I know I made a few errors with the trial one.

It does take some getting used to, February was my 'trial and error' month, but I would say stick with it and just make the necessary changes without starting again. My March looks a lot better! The software is flexible enough that you can make adjustments as you go along and get to grips with it.

I was just thinking about that. Everything is reconciled ok, I just need to get to grips with a few things.

I think maybe I am complicating things a bit too much.

I think it probably takes a few months to get everything spot on anyway, especially if like me you weren't paying enough attention before YNAB so didn't really have much idea what to budget where when you started.

I think it'll be good to be able to look back in 6 months to a year too and see where you started!

After a year of YNABing I've just started over with a brand new budget. My first budget was pretty specific with some categories which is what I needed at the time to get a handle on where my money was going. Now that I'm confident I've slashed my utility bills to the bone and cut back on the wine, I'm lumping things together in categories. It's all part of an attempt to streamline my life and get rid of the noise. Next step...the wardrobe. Oxfam will have bag loads of shoes and clothes coming their way.
  • Pixie - how do you delete and start again? I kniw you can 'start over' but I want to completely start from scratch.

Frogletina - did you do the class live or listen to the recording? That's fab!

Hi Munchkinsmum . It has to be the live classes to get the free ynab. They do a draw of all the attendees at the end of each class and announce the winner online.

I have done several of these, though because it is always late at night it is tiring to listen to them. However, it is the best way to learn how to use Ynab.

I dealt with my first credit card payment today on Ynab.

I don't like using credit but what I did today was buy a dress from Debenhams using their card which is a Mastercard.

Then when I went home I added a nil balance credit card account to Ynab, showed the purchase of the dress against it and then went into my personal spending account and paid it off - both in real life and on Ynab.

The things we do for fun!

I could have bought the dress using my debit card, but this way I got Debenhams points. In fact, I once bought something from there with my credit card and was told by the cashier that I could pay it off straight away. So I did.
