Phone is with BT and Line Rental Saver expires shortly, whilst BB is supplied by Plusnet. The latter have refreshed their offerings, so that by transferring the phone side to them I would save just under £40 a year.
At the moment the local FTTC cab is oversubscribed, but from the BT site it would seem extra capacity is to be installed. Switching to fibre would only increase my current combined costs by £22 a year.
In some ways I think packages can be risky, but given all the above, what do others think in particular and in general to phone/broadband package deals?
BTW for MSE forum I may be a odd bird: I do not need to save money.

You are a money saver as you paid a year in advance on your BT line rental which saved you money.
I'd go for a package now. They seem to add charges on when you don't package so there is value in packaging.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

How else can you earn £40 for ten minutes work (no, don't answer that)?
Since PN are a BT Group company anyway, what is the risk involved, given that PN's CS is vastly better than BT?
It makes sense to bundle service that are compatible, such as line rental, calls and broadband. Bundling in others, such as TV and mobiles, does not always make financial sense, and is often sold as having the dubious benefit of 'simplifying your bills'.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
