Refused Santander 123 account

Hi, I tried to set up a new Santander account but it came back as a refusal. My credit rating with Experian (who Santander use) is 934 and I haven't been refused credit for a very long time. Nothing stands out on my credit report, and I'm on the electoral register, so a bit bemused as to why they wouldn't let me set up an account. Any ideas? Is there a way round this? .

Odd, I just signed up and approved within minutes for account and CC. I don't know what checks they do, I told them my salary would be paid in, that I'd be switching primary accounts, details of all my old addresses. Have you tried calling them? Could be something simple like a mistake with your addresses, or perhaps type of employment?

I tried twice, once online and once over the phone.
I'm wondering if its because I'm not switching primary accounts. I did ring them but they weren't very helpful, they just said I'd have to go through the appeals process. Thinking I might go in the branch with a print off of my credit report.

Experian may indeed contribute to the decision but only as a part of Santander's own risk-based process, so you'd be wasting your time turning up in branch brandishing a credit report produced by a different company. Follow their advice and go through the appeals process, or simply go elsewhere, bearing in mind of course that each credit search will be on record....
