BT Engineer Cancellations

Hi all,

We were supposed to have a BT Engineer over yesterday. 30 minutes before end of slot, BT calls to say he won't be able to attend due to 'resourcing' issues and we have to rebook for Friday.

My OH has paid holiday and was able to take yesterday off, but there is absolutely no chance he will be able to take it off so late notice, therefore I'm going to have to take it off and lose £120.

If the Engineer doesn't come again, which I thoroughly expect he won't if past experience is anything to go by, can I claim anything against losing a full day's pay? I will be absolutely fuming if I take it off for nothing.

Thanks

Took 7 appointments for us to get an engineer actually turn up and do the work - they did turn up a couple of times but external work hadnt been done or they were sent with the wrong job etc.

BT have an Actual Financial Loss team what will consider claims but its a pain to get a case referred to them. Our claim was rejected as we moved to their sister brand mid process so no idea what their payouts are like - our complaint is now with the ombudsman

Most tend to do a £50 goodwill offer for failed appointments (our cheques for £300 just turned up yesterday)

They do Saturday appointments if that would be help? Although you might have to escalate your complaint to get one this week.

OP, have a read of MSE's Failed Delivery article.

Although yours isn't a failed delivery, the principle is exactly the same.
