Alliance and Leicester PPI

Hi, I've just completed a claim for PPI refund with Lloyds and sent that off. (Here's hoping!) However, I took out a loan with Alliance and Leicester a few years ago and it was for about £7,000 I think, I hadn't even banked with them either and their rates were so much better than Lloyds even though I had been a Lloyds good customer for more than 30 years and never defaulted on any loans in that time. Anyway, when Lloyds approached me about 2 months later with a better deal, I paid off the Alliance and Leicester loan with one of those consolidation loans and they still took the entire PPI money. At the time they said it was because, they provided the insurance cover up front whether it was needed or not, but the guy at Lloyds said at the time in his opinion he had expected Alliance and Leicester to refund the full PPI money. Do you think I have any chance of a refund from Alliance and Leicester even though I paid off the loan outright after only a few months?

Are you sure the PPI was not rebated? Usually it is but it is done as part of the settlement figure on the loan. So, it wouldnt stand out.

You'll doubtless have had the majority of the PPI included in your early settlement figure, especially if you paid the loan off after only a few months.

It would depend how "few" months were actually paid and what rebate was actually given for that period as the remaining PPI after the rebate would have been paid back in the settlement figure.

If it was mine, I would check to see what rebate was given and what the settlement figure was before I decided to make the complaint or not.
