I was lead to believe that Kalixas main company was something to do with gambling?? Myself having been in debt before did my research!!

I can't speak directly about this company.. but any company offering products specifically to low credit users are generally bad news.. a bit of the 'preying on the vulnerable' sort of situation.. often run by large finance companies/Payday Lenders and Gambling Holding firms.. relatively common :)

i think you may be right in some cases however others are IMO offering a genuine product to help. Prepaid cards have positives (and also negatives) however if researching the company behind them concludes they know the industry, for example with mine, they are part of a debt resolution company so have built the product to assist.

some people have no option to look for alternatives to mainstream accounts and in some cases, get treated a lot better, especially for a pensioner like me!:(

Just thought of giving an update .I have called most prepaid cards that act as bank accounts and it seems that about half of the companies I contacted do accept a valid TV licence as proof of address as long as this is issued the past 90 days. This is a life saver for me and actually the easiest way to get proof of address once i return to the UK.

Also in terms of mainstream banks Barclays also accepts a valid TV licence as proof of address as does the CoOP bank...but I am excluded from mainstream banking..so no use.

A further update on my situation. After an ordeal getting my credit report, thank god Experian has the option to do it by post and send it abroad.

According to them I have the CCJ mentioned already from late 2010 and a default from my mobile contract just before that in mid 2010.This is a total of 2k debt according to the experian report. Now I am aware that there are two more companies providing credit reports so I am kinda sceptical.

Firstly there should be a defaulted student overdraft from Natwest which does not appear on their report.Secondly my Uni had an agency chasing me for a debt of about 1000 pounds for my masters fees which I eventually paid in full last year and got my MSc posted in my home address.

My question is why dont these appear on the Experian report?I mean they have all the correct linked addresses on my report. Do you know if universities have a different policy on reporting debts to credit ref agencies? Just to mention that my debt from the Uni was not based on any loan etc.I was self funding my studies and due to some hardship I couldnt pay my full tuition fees so I struck a deal with their finance office directly which allowed me to finish my studies ,then however I broke the agreement for the final instalment and couldnt pay the remaining 1k though I was allowed to graduate (with a commendation non the less hehe) . For a period of more than 1 year this agency was chasing me (basically they could only email me since I was abroad) for the fees.I kept dodging the bullet while keeping in contact with them until I managed to secure the funds and repay the remainder of my fees. Now why this does not appear on my report? Is it because universities have a different policy on stigmatising their students or am i just too romantic and this might appear on a credit report from a different company?

And what about the student overdraft?

Some companies only give details to certain CRA's.

There are 3 in Britain: Experian,Equifax and Callcredit ( which owns Noddle)

Some banks/companies might only report to Equifax and Callcredit so wouldn't appear on your credit report from Experian.

Thank you guys for your answers.I am gonna first try Barclays Cash Card account and see how it goes but I also highly doubt I am gonna get anywhere.

Just a question for you gregor123.I see in their site that in order to get your wages paid in your Clearcash iaccount you need to provide your employer a standard application form.Cant you just provide them your bank account and sort code? I am a bit worried that if future employers are aware that this card is mostly for people with poor credit history this will kinda ''stigmatise'' me in my professional arena.

Also do you know if their credit builder service actually helps your credit score?I am inclined to use it tbh...

better late then never and sorry for the delay. ClearCash current account gives everyone their own account number and sort code so there will be no issue with having your salary paid in...
