In the week at least the last train is a lot later than that - 2330

Yes, but it doesn't get back into Newport until 7am - after a 4 hour wait at Bristol Temple Meads :o

    Hi all!

We're going to Disneyland Paris in November. Everything is booked for the trip except for the travel between home (Newport) and St Pancras.

    Can anyone tell me the best way to do this? There's 8 of us in total (4 adults ages 70, 54, 34 & 30 - 4 children ages 13, 11, 5 & 1).

Unfortunately for us, I believe our Eurostar leaves at 10.15am from St Pancras so will be travelling in peak times up to London  Something I am not looking forward to with the kids in tow :(

Cheapest way would be fab, the FIL is paying for it all but would rather save him some dosh after paying over £2000 for the trip already, but he has said cost doesn't matter.

I've priced (approx.) train tickets from home to St P. and it's about £270ish return with a Friends & Family railcard. But I've never done this before so have no idea of times / waiting / or anything else that could affect us, especially important to factor in the kids - older ones will understand and not mind so much, but 5 & 1 y.o. will be my main concern.

Thanks in advance for any help :) xx

Off topic but how is life in Newport these days?

I live in Porthcawl now but originally from Caerleon Road, St Julians.

Could anyone pick you up from Bristol if you're stuck?

I think you've made the right choice t go up the day before. I'd go as early as you can and start panning your day in London!!!

Cheapest way from Newport to London would be the megabus, which would take you to Victoria. If you book far enough in advance you should not have to pay any more than £20 return per person. If you have Tesco club card vouchers you can now exchange these for megabus vouchers.

For peace of mind I would agree that staying overnight in London the night before is a wise move

Well that depends on whether you get embroiled in engineering work. In the regular timetable it arrives at 0211 with only a brief stop at Temple Meads. There's an earlier one as well that's a bit quicker

And if you are travelling in November there's no engineering work currently scheduled

Was just going to suggest Megabus as well, but would expect to pay less than £20 return each when booking so far in advance. They're booking for October at the moment and you could get it for £80 return (yes £10 each!!). The buses go from in front of Newport train station, are generally punctual and clean, and it's a great service.

Megabus would take you into victoria, which means crossing London to get to St pancras.

It's still only one line though.
