Laptop Mains Working?

Olease can you use a LAPTOP on the mains because the battery is flat. What is the correct way of recharging i.e. Doo you just plus a mains lead in or set up something. The laptop in general is a COMPAQ 1580DT do not know how you get to the bios setup.

just plugging in the mains charges the battery and powers the Laptop at the same time, unless it's faultyEx forum ambassador
