Hi there,
Im wondering if anybody can give some advice.
I sent charges back approx 8 weeks ago for the sum of approx £1,800,00 including charges and im pretty sure the bank has made a HUGE error.
Ive got an offer of settlement for £11,800,00 in writing.!!
Where do i stand, is it a legal binding offer they cannot pull out of??
Will they correct the mistake??
Any advice on how to proceed would be very helpful.
Thanks
Mike

I'd love to see the answer to this one

Personally I'd write back accepting the offer and include a copy of their letter
Got It & Spent It :dance:IKEA CARD = £120 charges = £175 received (146%)MARBLES = £450 charges = £370 received (82%)I.F. = £494 charges = £494 received (100%)CAPITAL ONE = £981 charges = £1,489.03 (152%)BARCLAYCARD = £580 charges = £786.12 (136%)On Hold :mad:A+L = £722 charges (target = 147%)BARCLAYS = £1,405 charges (target = 128%)BARCLAYS = £175 charges (target = 140%)ABBEY = £3,220 charges (target = 148%)0 -

Of course they will. This may well be a typist error and it will be spotted, no-one is going to authorise a cheque/repayment for that amount without checking.0 -

What a shame - I'd still try accepting it :rotfl:Got It & Spent It :dance:IKEA CARD = £120 charges = £175 received (146%)MARBLES = £450 charges = £370 received (82%)I.F. = £494 charges = £494 received (100%)CAPITAL ONE = £981 charges = £1,489.03 (152%)BARCLAYCARD = £580 charges = £786.12 (136%)On Hold :mad:A+L = £722 charges (target = 147%)BARCLAYS = £1,405 charges (target = 128%)BARCLAYS = £175 charges (target = 140%)ABBEY = £3,220 charges (target = 148%)0 -
Go for it, then watch to see if they put that amount in your account. If they do, take it out ASAP and then let them wait for you to pay it back.0

i would call them to accept an repeat to them what the letter says
if they say ermmm i think there has been a mistake laugh n say well thought i would try but on a serious note if the real figure there offering is the whole amount then your glad to accept but if its not you have had a bit of banter an he may well offer it to you anyway
good luck0 -
Hi there,
is it a legal binding offer they cannot pull out of??
Mike
Unfortunately not! But it would be great if this error has occurred somewhere higher up the chain than, say, the teenage office junior who probably wrote your letter. Don't forget that your bank has been inundated with claims and mistakes obviously happen when you try to rush things through.
Anyway, don't get too greedy as £1800 is not to be sniffed at, now is it? I bet you have already spent the money in your head! But just think what you could do with thatb extra 10 grand!!!! :rotfl:If I had 8 hours to chop down a tree, I'd spend 6 hours sharpening my axe0 -
I would contact the bank and confirm that the offer being made is £11800.00, if they say YES then you may want to ask them to send YOU a schedule of the charges as YOU had MISSED loads and that they are very helpful to offer such a service.
