Phuket, Thailand

For those who may not know, there has been a major cleanup of the beach areas in the area. Many beach bars have been cleared away, as have sunloungers, umbrellas etc.
This is due to unlawfull traders etc, encroaching what is public land. The army and navy are enforcing the clearance.
You can keep up to date with what is going on in the local online newspaper, but is is aimed at getting the beaches back to how I remember them in the 80s to early 90s, which I personally think is a good idea.
