Does anyone know if it is possible to take out a seperate insurance on my wife's car for our son who has just passed his test?
The quote to add him as a named driver on the existing policy is close to 2k.
A seperate policy comes out at about £700.

Separate policy comes in at £700? Thats super cheap. How old is he?
Just passing their test usually bumps the premium to over £1000. Cheapest i could get an 18 year old just passed was £1300 for a Daewoo Matiz.
When you got the separate policy did you declare they were not the owner and keeper?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
You can have dual insurance, as long as owner/ keep is correctly declared, you arent reusing the NCD etc. It can cause problems with claims where the vehicle isnt attended (vandalism, theft, fire, hit and run etc)0

Yes declared that he was not the owner keeper. Actually 700 wasn, t the cheapest. It was AXA picked that one because the car is currently insured through virgin underwritten by AXA. Just did a search on money supermarket.
Problem is I don, t know if I can take out a parallel policy on a car that, s already insured.
Don, t suppose you know the answer to that one?0 -
