Leasehold Building Insurance

I have lived in my current (semi) house since August 2005. In that time the leasehold was sold to another company (Compton group). I pay £10 every 6 month.
Today I have had a letter saying that apparently my lease has a lessee convenants that relates to insurance. They are saying I have to do my building insurance with Liverpool Victoria Insurance (LV=).
Can they demand this? I don't want to be dictated to who I chose to insure my home with.
I use the comparison sites to get the best deal. They once asked me to buy the leasehold but wanted £800. Its only £20 a year so I assumed why bother buying it.

I would ask for full details to find out. Why wasn't this brought to your attention when you moved in.
Nothing wrong with LV= of course - good solid insurance company. However in the Insurance press there have been articles recently about some management companies substantially overcharging for insurance in this sort of circumstance.0 -
