Renewed over the phone 5/6/2014 - still nothing!!! They said 4th August is the 8 week limit but I have a feeling that theyre going to tell me its still not done. This is so so frustrating!!! Theyve confirmed that theres nothing wrong with the figures its just 'waiting'. I need the finalisation for student finance so I can get the right amount. Wht if its not done by 4th?? What happens then??
People who have renewed after me had it done within a week. ARGH

Tax credits annoy me too because it's about time they abolished them in order to help reduce to 120 Billion pound annual deficit and to stop part-time employed such as the family of 17 romanians getting 55K a year in total benefits. There is no cap for workers on benefits, only on unemployed, which staggers me !!!!0

Yep, except my husband on minimum wage working 60hours a week and barely pullng in just over a grand a month, me on maternity leave - tax credits are a HUGE help. Minimum wage jobs arent the easiest but he's working his backside off. The tax credits greatly supplement, as we're not entitled to any help with housing or anything, and we're not scroungers. So therefore its upsetting when things like this renewal crap takes an age and its stressful as hell!0

1 child under 2
no childcare
no disabilities x
The figures given in the first post indicate an income of £19,500 a year, roughly £1,350 per month after deductions. You need to verify that tax credits have the right information - the discrepancy between the two (or the £9K also quoted) is quite significant!0 -
Yes, I'm sure they are very useful to everybody that gets them but the UK is spending 300 million pounds a day more than it gets in taxes. That is unsustainable and correspondingly so are tax credits for part-time workers and unemployed. Tax credits disincentivise full time work IMO.0

@cyberman
if companies paid more than a minimum for carers then there wouldnt be a need0 -

yeah his contract is 0 hours, so 60 hours is from pulling as much overtime and extras as he can get his hands on. not every week is the same x0
