Last years tomatoes were fairly tasteless on the whole so this year I thought forget the quantity, I'll plant only the large beefsteak varieties. around 25 plants grown in 11" pots over gravel trays.

What they have done is produce the biggest tomatoes I've ever had.

This is the biggest so far but there are bigger to come. Unfortunately the labels gone so not sure if it is Beef Master or Super Marmande

This 1 weighs 1lb 5.5 ounces

    The taste of both these varieties is superb, they taste of tomato.

    To explain, I had a severe cycling accident 7 years ago, multi skull fractures.
    What it did was rob me of the finer aspects of taste and smell, but these smell and taste superb.

    I think the overall yield will equal such as moneymaker or Alisha craig, but with a far superior taste;)

    Well I think we've picked the biggest now, it weighed 1lb 6.2 oz (about 640 g I think).:dance::dance:
    Well pleased, but next year I plan to grow mainly plum tomatoes, I have a packet of Roma unused from this year. Possibly a few bush varieties too.
    Anyone know a good alternative to Roma.
    Most of our toms that aren't consumed straight away or given away, are cooked and reduced then frozen for cooking by the way.
