Newbie UKPPO charge :-(

Hi all,
Decided to register after reading so many helpful posts and bits of advice for victims of the parking monsters. I have received my NTK from UKPPO after finding a windscreen ticket in a permit-only parking space in Manchester over a month ago. The spaces were not marked and there was only one sign stating that they required a permit, this was hidden so it could not be seen on entry to the car park!! I should add the ticket was issued at 00.02 and the sign is not illuminated, so I'm pretty confident they didn't get a good photo of the car and sign in situ.
I've read the newbies thread so am going to send the standard template letter to UKPPO and expect to receive either nothing or a rejection - anything to watch out for at this stage / add / change to the letter before sending the letter?
Thanks in advance money savers :-)

nope, just use the template as is, its all in there for a reason, nothing to add in 99% of cases

Thanks Redx - I'll pop it in the post and see what happens...0

Update: So it has been more than 35 days since posting my first appeal now, did I read in another thread that this is the time within which they have to respond if they want to have any legal standing to push for payment?0
-
Did you get proof of posting when you sent your appeal? PPCs have a habit of claiming they never received an appeal as an excuse for not having to go to POPLA and for increasing the charge.0

Yep - kept the receipt (certificate of postage) dated 29/07/2014... Am I in the clear?0 -
Not really - this is only just past the 35 days after all and it's not exactly a hard & fast 'rule' set in stone that the BPA care about. So certainly don't throw anything away for a few years (not joking!). More than likely you will get a late reply next week or so, if not then you could complain to the BPA if you get anything different like a random Debt Collector letter later on. That proof of posting is useful.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Cheers Coupon-mad. If I do get a late reply, will I still have to go down the POPLA route with a second appeal letter then?0
-
Yes you will if they reject it. To be honest if I were you I would now wing them a quick email with reference saying, that as you have not heard, you assume PCN is cancelled. Send a copy of evidence of posting. If not you wish to receive a POPLA code by return.
They may well try and tell you they never received it, but you have evidence you sent it, so you are ok.,Newbie thread: go to the top of this page and find these words: Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > Household & Travel > Motoring > Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking. Click on words Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking. Newbie thread is the first post. Blue New Thread button is just above it to left.0
