I have just got married :j
I was about to start putting my affairs in order re my new married name BUT this got me thinking, will this have a negative effect on my credit rating?
It's currently very good ( no late payments, no defaults / CCJ's, good relationship with credit since I was 18, now 32), but I am planning a couple of ventures within the next 4 months that will require me to apply for credit. Will changing my name hinder my chances at all?
Thanks
Lottie

As long as details between the old and new name are linked properly it should not change what a potential creditor gets back on a report.

I changed my name when I got married and everything with my maiden name is still on my credit report.
Not sure how it works - I didn't tell the credit reference agencies that my name had changed. I just changed it with banks, credit cards, utilities etc etc. Have never had a problem, including when applying for our more recent mortgage.
p.s. Congratulations!0 -
thanks Fermi and ptp
however i'm thinking that the the overlap during the time that the electoral register takes to be updated may cause problems....0 -
You will have an alias to your old name so you'll still show current on the electoral roll at your address which is the main thing while you wait for the update.0
