Negative entry on my credit record

Please help me out. I was refused credit a while ago, when I contacted equifax, I was told that I have a really bad entry on my record which made my rating poor. I told Equifax that the entry was wrong, they contacted the utility company who removed the entry immediately. I have a mortgage which has been really high, which I think is due to the negative entry on my record. My question now is, is there any way to get this utility company pay for their wrong entry on my record? The utility company resolved any issue they had with me long ago, what I do not know is why they still put the negative entry on my record, even when they wrote me to explain that it was a mistake on their side. The problem is I do not have the letter they wrote me years ago regarding the matter.
Goodyear.

It would have been mentioned at the time of your mortgage whether it had affected it at that time so no, it wont have anything to do with it.

What do you mean by negative entry. Was it a default or something else.

What is the original date of this entry.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • It showed a default on my record which gave me very poor rating.
  • I need to know whether I can hold them accountable on this. I was refused credit for something very small, i want to make them pay for this as they have been making me pay for everything.
