SAR Query

I'm thinking of (but not yet decided) of sending off a SAR to HSBC for information on my loans.

I'm aware this may well be very fruitless because of the length of time passed.

Also, i stopped being a customer of HSBC in i think 2007. But was still paying the debt via Metropolitan whom were working on HSBC's behalf until March 2014, then HSBC sold the debt onto Marlin whom i am dealing with now.

Would HSBC still likely hold any information on me as i was still actually paying HSBC until March of this year, but Metropolitan were working on their behalf?

Also, when they sell debts on, do they just give the Debt collection agencies very limited information or a full file?

I would imagine a SAR would be a waste of money in your circumstance. Any redress awarded for a successful complaint about PPI you may have had would just be off set against monies you still owe the bank because the loans defaulted.

I'm actually hoping any redress would go towards my debt, anything that can slightly notch it down is a win in my opinion.

I do have some good information for my case, i was just wondering if it was worth trying for more.

It's something i was thinking of this eve after compiling my complaint letter. I have information, but in these circumstances it's sometimes good to have more.

I agree, it would be a good thing paying any redress towards the outstanding debt. Send the SAR anyway, who knows what it might reveal, sometimes other potential ppi complaints come to light in the responses.
