Dash Cams Shadow GT680W

:j I have just fitted a Shadow GT680W dash cam with GPS. Having seen the thread on the Meet and Greet scam and knowing what fidlles the car park management companies are up to with ANPR, dash cams look to me an essential self-protection tool. I'm amazed motor manufacturers don't fit them. I wonder how many motorists have been clocked by ANPR cameras queuing to get out of car parks. One of these dash cams plus the expert advice from certain members of this site will be a get out of jail card.

Why will a dash cam help evade a parking ticket ??

:jSince 2012 there has been a huge increase in the number of managed car parks, whether it be retail parks or individual supermarkets. The objective of parking management companies is to make profits for themselves (whilst giving a free, less costly service service to the retailer). However this is all at the expense of the motorist. ANPR cameras focus on a single car, measuring the time they have been in the car park. They do not take into account the fact that sometimes due to traffic conditions vehicles are unable to leave a car park on time due to queuing trafffic outside (and often cars leaving the supermarket petrol station!). A dash can can provide the photographic evidence to show this has occurred. Whilst the parking company will play hard ball, a court will take a different view. The retailer might also wish to get the PCN cancelled to avoid adverse customer reaction (the retailer though may be limited by contract to the number of PCNs they can cancel even if you are in the right). I know this as my local Morrisons have just installed a system and at peak times this exactly what happens. Parkingeye will be very happy of course.

The second issue is a more legal point. The basis in law of PCN notices on private land is that the PMC is sueing for damage by you overstaying. If you can prove the car park had empty spaces there is no loss to the retailer and therefore no damage.
I do not advocate in anyway abuse of any terms and conditions but given the way technology is being used purely for profit you have to use technology to defend youself.

My title thread mentioned a paticular brand of dash cam. I should not have done this although this is a cheap machine that does its job very well. I'm not promoting a brand just the principle of how to defend yourself in a difficult situation. Given the quality of these video images I would be happy to defend myself in a small claims court.

because ANPR tags entering and leaving times, if your suck in a cue (like I am mostly waiting for asda truck to reverse into the loading gates before I can get out the car park) and your back at your car with mins to spare before your ticketed, but then stuck in a cue to get out you get a ticket for late parking or over stay when you were trying to leave but couldn't.

Indeed, I think people are a little on edge.

I suggest checking out their other posts and searching their username on Google BEFORE assuming the worst of people.

Scammers often post the same sh*t on multiple forums, making them easy to spot if you know where to look.
