Why cant I get a WTC award notice?

Last year when I renewed my WTC they didnt send me an award notice - as I was just getting the money into my account I didnt really bother about it.

This year I need a copy of my award notice for my college course - I rang up to renew my WTC and they said all was ok and I would get a notice - money going into the bank no problem - 2 weeks later I rang again and they said they would send one out. 3 weeks later as I still hadnt heard I rang again. This time they said there had a been a "block" put on sending one out (????) but the guy said he would remove the block - I then got my NHS cards but still no award notice!

Has anyone else had this problem?

I, too, need my award notice for my college course, and have been waiting for my tax credit award since the beginning of May. We keep phoning but we are told that whilst the award has gone through (and it has, there has been no loss of payment), the computer hasn't actioned it to be printed yet and there is nothing they can do about it.

I'm getting in a panic as the college finance dept are asking for it ASAP but I can't provide it. School also want it so they can give us free school meals in Sept, so if it doesn't get here by the end of term we will have to pay for school meals. I only have a couple of days left and don't know what I'm going to do in Sept as I cant afford school meals - it's for a disabled child who has to have his food blended, he can't take a packed lunch.

We phoned again this week and the bloke on the helpline was really off and all but said 'tough'.

There is a problem with getting some award notices issued at the moment, but the award notice is not the only way of proving entitlement to these things, despite that other benefits say they are.

Ask the school meals, college people, etc. what other forms of evidence they can accept, as quite often its just proof of income for the previous year that they want. Check their websites as well, as these normally answer this question as well.

If all else fails, tell them to ring the tax credits helpline themselves, as all councils, Jobcentres, Citizens advice centres have a hotline number (that jumps the call que) where tax credit details can be confirmed over the phone.

The guys on the helpline don't have any control over sending the award notices. They can hand off a request to the processing centres but then don't get any update on whether one has been sent out or not (or why).

Same here. I used the NHS charges exemption certificate which did come through okay. That proves you get WTC. Annoying, though, isnt it?

Their are problems with award notices being issued to some claimants, but if you call the helpline and ask to speak to a team leader to complain about not getting award notices they can request a manual copy of your award notice from TCO.
