Changed mind about changing supplier

The deal with my current energy supplier ends in a few days time so on the 18th June I carried out some price comparisons and found a cheaper supplier. I applied online to switch to the new supplier but since then I have heard nothing from them.

My google search to find a contact number for the new supplier was also quite overwhelmed by complaints about the new company, including their lack of communication so therefore I have decided against the switch.

I phoned my existing supplier to advise them that I would simply like to go onto another of their fixed deals instead of switching. They said that they'd had no contact from the new company but that I should still contact them to cancel it as I may have entered into a contract already? I have checked my bank account and the new company have not set up a new direct debit. So it appears that in the 6 weeks since I originally decided to change, nothing has been actioned at all.

With my current deal coming to an end on 30/07, my tariff will change to the standard offered by my supplier which obviously will cost me more. I'm wondering where I stand? Have I already entered into a contract with the new company? I've had zero contact from them, not even an email.

You have 14 days cooling off period, so as you are well past this it would be reasonable to expect that you are now in a contract with the new suppliers even though you may not have hear from them yet.
Try contacting them to cancel and see what happens - they may well charge you the Early Termination Fee which you might feel is a price worth paying to escape

After more than 5 weeks your switch should have completed-so something is clearly awry. However, you may still be bound by the new contract, so call the new supplier.
