How do you know? Why wasn't the car put through an MOT earlier? Besides, I'm not that convinced that I am right so I am inclined to agree with what you say here I'm just speculating on possible costs... Cant claim for something that might have happened, only what actually happens. I wasnt assuming anything, just merely responding to the "point" you made earlier about that being something to consider. But to speculate, the dealer could have also contacted those customers, told them the car was no longer available and then subsequently sold them another car.

OP is liable for losses incurred, but they're not liable for "a reasonable amount that *might* be actual losses but might not".
