Vodafone can't help me
Options
Hi. I've just come across an odd one. I went into a Vodafone store on Thursday to upgrade to the Nokia 930. I'm in that period when I can upgrade. The contract they offered me was £43.50 a month for 4Gb of 4G. Ideal, but for the price. I can't really justify the hike in price just to have more data. They advised me that the plan I am currently on was is no longer offered (although it seems to be an option online with different phones). The woman was very offhand and not really engaged in trying to make my day. So I decided to follow Martin's advice and ring the retentions department.
Strangely, they don't sell this phone online, despite their facebook ads and the telephone people can't talk to the stores. So the woman was extremely nice but quite unable to help me, and I came away with a PAC code.
I was a bit amazed that a communication company doesn't do multi platform selling and that the different bits can't talk to each other. Trouble is I would really quite like to stay with them because I get a corporate discount and 'cos they have good coverage locally, plus 4G.
So, does anyone have any ideas about what I can try before I go to O2 (who don't do 4G) or EE who are dear?

As above O2 do 4G.
Three and Tesco don't have any price premium for their 4G0 -
Yes. I've was looking at O2. They sell their plans as 4G ready:
1 All of our tariffs come with 3G as standard, and you'll also get 4G speeds when available.
They seems quite expensive as they are much the same price and no 4G until some unspecified date.
What I have noticed is that Carphone Warehouse do the 7G Vodafone deal for £36.50.0 -

Sadly 3 don't do the Nokia 9300 -
Giffgaff sell the Nokia 930 and offer it on finance upto 24 months. The phone is unlocked and can be used with any network sim. The 24 months option is £50 down and 24 payments of £17.31pm. You will need to buy a 1 x 1 month giffgaff airtime bundle (goodybag) for £7.50 with the order but that's it. Not sure if that works out cheaper than a contract phone but may be worth investigating adding a sim only deal.
There also a CPW deal with Voda for £36.5 for UL calls/txt and 7GB data but that may be more than you need. There also an additional £100 back for trading a smartphone.

You probably spoke to upgrades not retentions. Upgrades is a waste of time as they have zero interest in getting you the deal you want only a crap deal thats best for them. Now you have you PAC you will get a call from retentions over the next week or so.
Although voda dont currently seem to offer the 930 according the the voda blog it is coming to voda online soon. Since you now have experience of how totally cant be bothered they are though perhaps it is time to leave.0 -
Vodafone's plans are also 4G ready, not guaranteed to have 4G everywhere. You could always call back and choose the option for "thinking of leaving us" and see what they can do. The Red 4G L plan has way more data than 4GB.
Retentions can do way more than the regular upgrade teams can0 -
Give it a few days and their retentions department will call you back.
I had voda's retentions call me back after I'd already secured a solid deal from them about an hour later!0
