Advice on Trackers
Comments
-
We have a Phantom tracker fitted to our motorhome. This gets us a discount off the insurance and gives us peace of mind.
This works off the GSM mobile phone network throught all of Europe (east and west), in effect it's a mobile phone that can be tracked by triangulation of the mobile phone masts.
Hope we never have to test its effectiveness!0 -
£30 or less from China and your tracker will never get a signal even parked under the transmitter mast.
Clever people design all these great ideas and someone smarter or by dumb luck finds a way to bypass them.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I'm currently looking at the same sort of thing but for a horse trailer.
Has anyone come across an automatrics mtrack, it's the one recommended by the manufacturer but opinions would be useful before I go ahead0 -
The issue with a horse trailer is how will you power the tracker? Battery pack on board?
If left for more than a few weeks even a large leisure battery may go flat.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

It does have built in living and a leisure battery. But the mtrac I mentioned has a built-in battery that lasts 2-4 years. Problem is I can't find any info or reviews apart from their own website0 -
Two to four YEARS?
In a device that contains a GPS receiver, motion sensing, processing, mobile phone transmitter? And fits in a pocket?
Forgive me, but my natural cynicism just stepped up a gear.0 -

I'm thinking the same, and I can't find anyone with real world experience with one. But it's the one recommended by the manufacturer of the trailer (equitrek)0 -
The life of the battery maybe 2 - 4 years but as above i dont see the charge in the battery lasting anywhere near that.
Unless the battery is the size of the horsebox your thinking of fitting it into.
Oh my. Smells of something that live on a farm. No specs and they cant tell you the details.
Cant find the specs required to gain CAT 7 approval.
7 seems to be the basic one. 5 and 6 offer more features.
Only wakes up every 5 hours? You have to send it back to get the battery replaced.
And the FAQ what happens if there is no phone signal.... The alarm with trigger when it regains coverage. So a check phone blocker renders it useless?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
