Samsung Galaxy mini II - extra memory?

Hi all.
A couple of years ago when I got my first smartphone I made the 'mistake' of getting a Samsung Galaxy Mini II http://static.trustedreviews.com/94/00002484f/d886_orh400w600/SamsungGalaxyMiniIIS6500-03.jpg with only 4 gig of memory (storage).
I've hardly got any apps stored on my phone, yet the memory is always nearly full and I end up having to try and delete things if I want to take a photo etc.
Anyway, I've noticed the phone has a micro SD card. Would I be able to buy an SD card and use this as extra memory? Has anyone done this with this type of phone? How fast/slow is the access as I read that there are different types of cards that will run faster or slower - but didn't really understand.
I'd mostly want to use the card to access offline maps and store camera photos.
Thanks.

Some apps can be moved to memory card - depends on app type.
Install Cleaner Master, it frees up space and memory - and recommends to you when another app can be moved to memory card.0 -
As the previous poster has said some (most) app can be moved to the SD card. You can do this through the setting menu/apps or get Apps2SD from the Play store.
Then move every else to your SD card too, photos, and music, the free demo movies Samsung may have put on your phone.
I recommend an app called Storage Analyzer to show up where something might be hogging your memory.
There is a way to move everything to your SD card, or make your SD card and extension of your phone's internal memory, but it requires hacking your phone in various ways that you may not want to go.
As far as speed goes, the higher the class the number the faster the card and more expensive, but in the real world you only really notice the speed when transferring large files, or things like recording HD video where a class 10 might be essential.
I can't post a link but there's a lovely Class 10 32GB on Amazon for £13, amazing the price of these now!0 -
Sorry I should have clarified I need extra storage memory - my phone actually only has 2gig max (which in effect means around 1.7gig - as there's operating system stuff you can't delete). So basically 2 maps equals 1.5 gig and that's my lot - Full up!
I take it I need to buy a class 10 to be sure of a better(faster) performance?
Some of the numbers on SD cards seem to be in a different format, like they have a number in a kind of box square (with the top missing) - I don't think these are class numbers.
Anyway, it would be good if someone could tell me where I can buy them from in person so I can ask. PC World?0 -
They do sell them in PC world, Phones4U, Carphone warehouse, Tesco, Asda, any of those little phone stores that are dotted around the markets etc.
So you should be able to buy one in person from somewhere near you..Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

If it helps, I just paid £40 for a 64GB class 10 SD card from my local Asda (she had to dig through a lot of cards with less storage to find the last one in the box though).:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.0 -
If you're a bit of a hacker, Link2SD is a great way of making a phone with naff memory work perfectly off an SD card. It's a bit of a job to get it working, but having tried it on my girlfriends old Android phone, I have to say it's absolutely fantastic!!0
