Full & final Settlement alters default date?

About 4 years ago hubby had a pay out and we paid off a large number of debts with full and final settlements. When I checked my credit reports I noticed the default dates were wrong and were all just prior to the settlement dates. When we saw the mortgage advisor she advised that when you make a f&f settlement the company can change the default date to that date. Is this correct?
She also said that if we weren't informed of this then we could appeal against it. Is this also correct?
We are looking at applying for a mortgage in September so if we can do anything I would definitely like to as the original defaults are all from 2006/2007.
TIA for any advice.

No. You should get a new mortgage advisor as that is complete c0ck and bull. Any mortgage advisor clueless enough to think that is true is to be avoided.Still rolling rolling rolling......<

Oh dear, they came highly recommended as the best in this area too :S
I thought that it couldn't be the case hence why I'm questioning it.
Does anyone have a link to some info on when your account should default? Ie I've read on here and national debt line that defaults have to be issued after 6 late or non payments. On some of my accounts it says
1 1 1 2 2 2 3 3 4 5 5 6 6 6 8 for exampleVSPC #183 £6.32

Not as simple as that. The actual guidance from the ICO is on here somewhere.
Question I would ask is how to you know they changed the default date? Do you have records showing what was on your credit report before the settlements? I wonder if it really was a full default before?Still rolling rolling rolling......<
