  • Ah that's brill, i did ring Capquest and Mr lefty didnt know what Mr righty was doing, perhaps they will look at it with more detail if it comes from the FOS rather than me, Might write to Call Credit as well and tell them they have incorrect information about me see if that helps any.

Yes companies often do suddenly become much more competent and cooperative when the letter is from the FOS. If it was me I would put it in writing myself as well, so you have a full audit trail and so that if you also decide to complain about them reporting inaccurate information under the Data protection Act to the Information Commissioner then you can prove to the ICO you wrote to complain on that.

Could be worth doing a SAR in the meantime. You can obviously prove all the payments so have a fairly open and shut case, but a SAR might show up what shenanigans they were up to that led to this and make the case even stronger. Reports say that Capquest literally took over the whole shebang. Files, systems and I think even some offices and staff, so Capquest must have the records now that you would want under a SAR.

Subject access request. You give them a tenner, they send a copy of everything they have on you.

If they later produce something that wasn't included in the SAR, that's not going to look good on them.

British Credit Trust was the one Microsmith mentioned throughout and they were the ones that got sold to capquest. http://www.ccrmagazine.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=10827&Itemid=35 Think Thruglemere just mistyped.

    did you pay ontime
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

    Yup, DD every month.
  • On my credit file there is a graph that shows the balance and payment history, it shows a £8500 balance for 3 years, whereas before this steady line you see a gradual reduction, and after you see a sharp reduction as if i made 3 lump payments, the loan is now showing up as (SF) 'satisfied'
