There can be no ball park figure. The cost would depend entirely on where the existing drainage was situated. You need to know the exact position of the existing drains. This is not difficult to establish, as you can normally see the inspection chamber lids..

Thank you. Do you remember roughly how much the rest cost? I'd rather know if it's worth perusing before getting lots of people in for quotes. So wondering if it's a few£1000 or tens of £1000s

I'll dig out the paperwork shortly. It certainly wasn't in the tens of £1000s.

Overall build cost was about £45k, but it's a brick built extension with 2 floors.............

    Ask the vendors?
Without proper info, no-one can do other than take a wild guess.

Not a wild guess no, the sewer libe runs through the front garden and there is a downstairs toilet on the outside wall at the rear of the property. And I have no intention of letting the vendor know that we have money to potentially build a small cottage at the end of the garden!

Checked our paperwork. We paid £1600 for all of the plumbing (including loo, sink and shower wastes and pipework from the house and to the sewer), and £100 for the hand dug trough for the pipework. This was a simple thing though, as the sewer connection was in the back garden already behind the kitchen where the spur for the water feed was taken. So nothing had to be routed around anything else.

    Hope this helps.

We have every intention of applying for planning permission if necessary. My question was about putting a sewer pipe through the garden!!
Sorry, my post was more directed at those above who seemed to imply that PP wasn't required, when it could be.

Is it possible to see the result of what you have done? It will be interesting...
