Too hot for gloss?

Hi Everyone, I need to repaint my front door and am hoping to repaint the front door - my question is, is it too hot to gloss paint at the moment? I don't want it to crinkle in the heat when it dries.

You might find the paint is drying to quickly , when you go back with the brush the previous strokes will be starting to tack. Leave it till it cools a bit.

Thanks, the front of the house did seem cooler so I started sanding the door and decided to go the whole hog and got out the paint stripper, so after stripping, sanding and washing down several times over I've decided I might change the colour slightly anyway - thinking of eggshell rather than gloss as i find its hard to get a really good finish in gloss paint.

Leave it, conventional wisdom was/is to paint in the spring or autumn, for good reason.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

So do all the decorators take the Summer off ?....:D

On a serious note they use to buy driers to mix in the paint so it dries quicker when there is moisture in the air and IIRC they also buy stuff to hold the drying process back.

Unfortunately that also requires dry weather, which we were sorely lacking this spring :( going to hang fire until later in the week / weekend to paint when it looks like it will cool off a little.

Appreciate everyone's input though, although I'm quite happy wielding a paint brush, i'm a but of a novice, and a perfectionist - so want to ensure i get it right.

No they work and risk failure, or go inside, ;);)

Repeat, it can be done anytime, but best results are if it doesn't get fried before it cures. The other risk in summer is fruit flies, greenflies etc that love to pebble dash your new paint

This spring was exceptionally mild, and an ideal time to paint, guess you missed out, :rotfl::rotfl:
