Yesterday; pootled about the garden yesterday, clearing more ivy and rattlesnake grass. This rental house has a massively overgrown garden and I don't think I'll quite tame it in the time I'm here but I'm having fun trying!
Made soup in my slow cooker for today, with enough left over for 4 frozen portions (2 are meal planned for later in the week so 2 at actually spare)
We may go to the cinema today (will try to find a voucher but will d up paying something) as I've planned clubcard outings for the entire rest of the summer so have 'summer budget' to spend on stuff that I can't get for free!

ChopinonaBudget There's lots of cinema offers about, depending on where you live, when you're prepared to go and the age of your family group.
Orange/EE Wednesdays (Link) I've used this loads of times as we're on this network.
Vue cinema deal (Link)
Odeon cinema deal (Link)
Cineworld cinema deal (Link)
Cineworld cinema deal 2 (Link)
Or sometimes you get a discount by booking online before you go; though sometimes they charge more for such a reservation.
We once got free tickets through ShowFilmFirst too (Link)
And there's cinema tickets on Tesco Clubcard Exchange. (Link)
Free Vue cinema tickets for Lloyds Club account holders. (Link) Thanks to another Forum regular for this tip.
Might not help you; might help someone else.
We always take our own drinks and snacks. Our local cinema has no sign up saying we can't and we've never been challenged over it. Not all cinemas are like this, though....

Happy Sunday everyone!
I had a relatively good non-spendy time with my friend yesterday. She is moving out of the country and so we drank wine that she had in the house already and ate up some of her food instead of going out for a meal. I used the money I saved to treat myself to a new skirt
(but it's soooo pretty!)
Today I must be quiet round the house as poor OH was gigging last night and got in at 5 this morning  however I feel the need to do something productive- Find tortilla recipe online - done (need veg oil as have run out) - added eg oil to HUGE shopping list (have run out of everything)
- Go through paperwork that I've been stashing under the bed and file properly (embarrassing as file is under the bed too!) - make a start while OH in bath
- Stack bottles saved for home brew into collapsible crate and move into shed (utility room looks a pig sty) - done 1 box full. then got a bit panicky and stopped but it's a start

- Dinner at m-i-l's
- Go through veg box and see if I can save anything. Some of it was not put in the fridge and the heat has not been kind to it - had to bin some broad beans and celery (hate both anyway). Roasted some carrots and an onion.
- Washing out on line in sunshine - third wash on now

- Tend to veggies - done. Also cut back triffid-like hedge
- Keep an eye on small hand held vacuum cleaner on ebay. I decided that it will make me very happy to have one as our house is very spidery and they are too high up for me to catch and remove humanely. It's a pain dragging the vacuum around for one spider at a time!
Have a good one all

Hello all
Missed posting yesterday. Did a mega pile of ironing (never seem to manage to do this as we go along) and went into town. There we purchased a paddling pool (£6.99) and later sat in the garden with our feet in it - bliss in this hot weather
Went into quite a lot of shops but managed not to buy anything not on the list. Tempted by nice clothes but I have lots already - decided to try and lose some weight so they all fit again!
Today I was up early walking one dog (other one is resting as has hurt his leg chasing pigeons). Jodles - my dogs are very nosy too, always spying on the neighbours - especially the one who has rabbits :rotfl:
OH is busy in the kitchen today. We have 3 cabbages and a carrier bag full of carrots (freebies) that we need to try and put to good use/freeze.
Today I am not wearing any make up . Find this really hard, which seems a bit daft, but I'm not going anywhere......
Now I'm going back to find the fake wasp nest link. Sounds like a good idea.
Best wishes all x0 -

CarrieLovesFanta, d'you know I was only saying to my OH yesterday that we should make our own Tortilla Wraps. just scuttled off and found a recipe. (Link)
We haven't a dough hook but I'm gonna try this recipe anyway, later or maybe tomorrow, as they're 99p for 6 in our local supermarket and that's a lot of dosh.carrielovesfanta wrote: »- Go through paperwork that I've been stashing under the bed and file properly (embarrassing as file is under the bed too!)
I (try to) keep my paperwork in one of these boxes with a separate wee section for Gas/Elec/Council Tax etc. (Link) The only way I can get it to work is to file away each document as soon as I finish with it. I chuck it on the stairs right in the middle where we have to walk and then whoever goes upstairs first has to file it away to avoid tripping over it. :rotfl: This works for us. Paid about £3 for this box in Tesco.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
Morning DFW-Jedis,
Taking things easy today around the house and making some sort of a timetable for tomorrow to get a lot of issues dealt with. had a lovely night last night watching two concerts on BBC Alba with two of our favourite artists performing.
On today's list:
Making a timetable for tomorrow.
Do Nectar AdPoints. Done
OH is baking scones as a treat. Yum.
List a book on eBay. Done. And now it seems they give you 20 free listings every month. Hurrah!
Home-made Tapas for lunch. Also yum.
Wash my hair with a little lemon juice as it's gone..bleugh...
Sorting out receipts in filing system. I'm sure we no longer own half the items I've kept the receipts for! I always keep receipts as so many things I've bought have broken before the end of their life expectancy and also cos it helps if I want to sell something on eBay and I can provide a receipt as proof it's not stolen! Done. Paper added to compost.
Freebies:
EA Games are offering the entire 'The Sims 2 Collection' free of charge up until 31st July 2014. I have no idea what that means?! (Link)
Offers:
Pint for £1 in Nicholson's pubs. (Link)
Enjoy your weekend, folks.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
Thanks for the tortilla link Ally - that's the one that tempted me too

I have an alphabetical expander file thingy for my paperwork - I'm just too lazy to put the paperwork into it
Might need to try making a habit of putting it away as part of the weekly housework!! LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310 -
Ta for the cinema list, Alley

Hello :hello:
Great to see that this thread still exists - I used to post on here years ago
I have decided that I need to again, as I have recently had a HUGE drop in income, which was planned for (early retirement) but it is just starting to sink in
We don't have any debt (or not now, getting rid of that was all part of the plan) but really need to watch the pennies now there are so few of them coming in!
So today I have:-
Went to a car boot early this morning and spent £1 on some plants to brighten up the front garden. I have since planted them in pots and watered them
Used a comparison site to get cheaper buildings and contents cover rather than just paying what was asked in the renewal notice. I saved over £100 and the cover looks better if anything. Also, the new company is one that I already have car insurance with, and they were brilliant when I had to claim recently (a bloomin' bus hit my car when it was stationary in a queue of traffic  ).
I also got £18 cashback as I went through Quidco. I won't get it for ages, but it will come in handy no doubt when I do!
Rejoined the National Trust - this meant paying out initially, but then unlimited free or cheap days out for the year. The money I saved on the house insurance more than paid for this
Done a load of washing on 30 degrees, and have put it outside to dry.
Made my lunch from bits and pieces in the fridge that needed using up. OH is away this week, so an ideal opportunity to save even more money.
Hunted around in the freezer for little bits of leftovers that I had stashed, which I will put together for dinner. This doesn't sound great, but what I actually have is 2 small pots of chilli and some rice, so actually fine
As the amount is very small, I will cook some extra vegetables to go with it. I have the remains of a cabbage that was 45p in Lidls, and some runner beans from the garden.
I still have a few bits to do:-
Chop up and freeze some celery that has been hanging around a while. It won't do for salads obviously, but fine for cooking. I always put celery in bolognese, chilli etc
A bit of ironing, so I can put the iron and board away till next millennium when I decide to do some again :rotfl:
Make up the spare bed
Walk the dog later when it isn't so hot. She is old and doesn't like the hot weather
Water the plants in pots (I have loads!) and the veg seedlings. We haven't had any rain for weeks!
That should do me for today!0 -
Listed some items on ebay to end next Sunday
Find a new place to live (not exactly debt free, but important)
Updated CV so when I finish my current contract I don't have periods of unemployment
Work overnight shift tonight as well as working tomorrow (it's gonna kill me, but it's all about the money!)0
