Could either of you pick up a second job - maybe bar work in the evenings or shelf stacking (added benefit of getting discounted food!)?
Your water looks very high - for two of us, ours is £19. Are you on a meter? If not, get yourself on one, switch to showers and put something in your cistern to reduce the water flushed.
Are there anythings you can e Bay?
I think you need to try and stop smoking immediately. I am sure it is hard but if you have that £300 you are nearly out of deficit each month.
Lose or reduce the Sky.
What is the payment to the Inland Revenue for?MFIT No. 810 -
Hey - welcome to DFW!
I live near Blackpool and sometimes do that run to South Wales - don't envy you doing it twice a month though!
I would second what every one has said about sky, and you've already made the decision to cancel which is fantastic! i would also recommend that if the no-smoking takes a whlie, go onto roll ups - much cheaper and might take longer to smoke therefore cutting down slightly?
You can get the filters, rolling machine etc so it's easier. Obviously giving up would be a whole lot easier.
I hope the house sells soon - it must be in a nice area if mortgage is that high round here (nosey me
).
Also I would echo what Redbedhead said about Ebaying anything you don't need, or perhaps carbooting? I know Blackpool has some great car boot sites.

Thank you,
I live on Lytham Road, south shore. It is a nice area but I'm not a big fan of Blackpool so we are hoping to relocate.
My partner is looking at doing an extra shift each week (£100 per shift) so that should help. We cant both do it because of the dog.
I'm not sure how ebay works otherwise I'd sell a few things.
We're definately going to try and quit smoking and stop with the take aways etc.
I just wish there was a quick fix. We've even thought about bankruptcy but
I've heard its difficult to get a mortgage after that and we dont want to rent - we want to buy.
So hard!!!
Thanks again XX0 -
Sorry, The inland revenue payment is because my partner and his ex were overpaid working family tax credit and we have to pay it off (she's not paying any of it which I'm really P***ed off about).
We're not on a water metre, other half thinks it might be harder to sell as some dont like them - is this true??

if you have 4 or more bedrooms i wouldnt go on a meter.we have 3 bed semi and have 3 adults here, our water meter is only £21 a month. at our other house we had rates of £44 a month.
we are not tight with water either we use it as normal, baths car washing dishwasher etc.TO FINISH LAST, FIRST YOU HAVE TO FINISH....0 -
plus you can have one fitted for a trial year..after that you can go back to rates if req. Good selling point as the new buyers will have choice.TO FINISH LAST, FIRST YOU HAVE TO FINISH....0

My partner is looking at doing an extra shift each week (£100 per shift) so that should help. We cant both do it because of the dog.
Why? A dog will quite happily sit at home for 12 hours without a problem as long as you leave it some water so it'll survive you coming in from work, throwing some food down your and it's neck, throwing it in the garden for a pee and then putting it to bed for a few hours.0 -
We've even thought about bankruptcy but
I've heard its difficult to get a mortgage after that and we dont want to rent - we want to buy.
Not only that, secured loans ARE NOT INCLUDED IN BANKRUPTCY and most letting agencies do credit checks so you'd be stuffed for finding somewhere to rent after banking.
What about letting out a room? You can earn around £4500 a year in rent without paying any tax on it.0 -
Hmm, you don't seem to be paying alot of child maintenence. I know this isn't money saving but you must ensure payments are correct as if you are found to be paying to little they take alot in backpay, which can leave you even shorter. At least reduce Sky - channel audit! If the property is suited to just a couple then definitely go for a water meter - your rates are very high. Now is the time to quit smoking - so many shops like Boots are offering discounts on anti smoking products as well as offering free help - visit your local Boots and ask them for some help.£4000 challenge
