ASDA Bedminster PCN - Smart Parking

Hi,
I have a PCN from Smart Parking Ltd for overstaying in the Bedminster ASDA car park in Bristol. There is a 2.5 hour limit. I live near the store and I had been informed that I could park freely overnight in the car park (between 10pm-8am) as the cameras are not operating during this time. Now their camera has apparently caught me leaving at just after 9.00am, having entered just after 2am, and I've been issued with a PCN. I don't understand though. From what I was lead to believe the camera's weren't operational between 10pm and 8am, yet they've photographed me entering the car park at 2am.
Also, having been told by ASDA staff that I'm free to park any time between 10pm and 8am, how can that time be used to imply that I have gone over the limit. I left at 9.08 am. So I have only been parked for 1hr and 8 minutes during the restricted hours. It doesn't make any sense.

So they said you could park free until 8am, so you stayed until past 9am?
Doh!
Unfortunately you can probably 'get away with it' by reading the newbies thread.0 -

No. They said there are no restrictions on parking at all for anyone between 10pm and 8am.
If the parking restrictions begin at 8am and there is a 2.5 hrs limit, that means you can park until 10.30am.
Consider a parking sign which says: 8am - 10pm, 2hrs, no return within 1 hr. If you park from 6am-9am should you get a ticket??0 -
It does seem daft, as I would read this the same way as you.
First of all, do you actually need advice, if so read the newbie thread and appeal as per this.
Smart almost always cancel at this first stage appeal.
Secondly go into Asda and complain, as you have clearly been "misinformed". Speak to the manager and demand they cancel PCN.
Finally remember it is not I, it is the driver....Newbie thread: go to the top of this page and find these words: Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > Household & Travel > Motoring > Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking.
