Peel Centre Excel parking 'invoice' query

  • A quick update - our first appeal was rejected. About to appeal to Popla and and have conveniently found the ticket they say I never bought - which shows I bought the ticket within a minute of arriving, and left 1 hr 32 minutes into my 3 hour ticket.
Tried letting Excel know, but I guess they're ignoring any further communication from us as we've already appealed once.
It is completely outrageous - if I hadn't chanced upon this forum, I would have just assumed I hadn't bought a ticket and paid up for fear of the fine being raised.
Will let you know how we get on with POPLA.

Copy it as part of your POPLA appeal - at the end! Even though it may be counter intuitive, this isn't the main plank of your appeal, you need all the technical and legal stuff detailed in the POPLA templates in post #3 of the NEWBIES sticky.

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

  • Hi,

A final thank you to all the help and advice.

We sent a copy of our parking ticket to excel, but they didn't respond in time before we needed to send the POPLA appeal. POPLA appeal duly sent. About 3 or 4 weeks later, Excel got in touch to say their machine had a glitch that day, and as a result they would withdraw charges. No apology. Presumably they had been in touch with POPLA to let them know as we never heard back from them.

The ticket had the correct date, times, registration number. Totally unacceptable, and I shall be spreading the word about keeping your parking ticket when parking at the Peel Centre.

Thanks again for all the time and advice you give to this subject. Very much appreciated.

It's funny how Excel/VCS have all these technical problems. If it's not machines not working properly, it's their office staff sending out paperwork to the wrong people.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

Becky could you show us that letter or email please? We'd like not just to know which day(s) this glitch happened, in case others get a ticket about it, but also seeing the actual email or letter - cover your details - would be useful evidence in ANY POPLA appeal as it shows the system is fallible by Excel's own admission.

Send it to me by pm if you prefer and I will use it anonymously in POPLA appeals as evidence.
