I have insurance on my watch from Goldsmiths ROP

the leather strap of my watch is goosed, it will cost £50 to replace, but I do have insurance from Goldsmiths (5 year cover).
However, we have just bought a house and I took out buildings/contents insurance.
If I claim for my watch, does that mean that the question regarding "have you made a claim" I would have to answer yes? Or does that just mean if I make a claim on my home/contents insurance?
Just trying to figure out if it's better to just buy a new strap than claim

When you say goosed, is it just worn or is it damaged?
If just worn, then it wouldn't be covered on home insurance so no need to mention it.0 -
I would just buy a new strap, or claim from the jeweller,
Check to see if there is and excess or even if the strap is covered. It may well not be.
You wouldn't need to disclose this to any renewal on house insureance.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Goldsmiths insurance definitely doesn't cover wear to strap. It is just a running cost of your watch, like a battery or service.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

Yeah, I would claim through Goldsmiths - it wouldn't be on my home/contents insurance I would claim.
I got the insurance because they cover the strap, I knew it wouldn't last that long so wanted to make sure I could get it replaced. I wasn't sure if other insurance had to be declared on home insurance quotes etc0 -
Its a warranty issue and so typically wouldnt be something that you need to declare to a home insurer as its not a peril that any of them cover.0

Is this a joke? Just put your hand in your pocket if it's a 50 quid strap. Claiming for stuff like this on insurance is just ridiculous and why premiums are so high these days.0 -

Seriously? Who are you to judge what people can/cannot afford? £50 may be a lot to some people or other bills need to take priority.
This is WHY people pay insurance premiums - fraudulent claims are the ones hiking premiums? The OP has paid the premiums...why on earth shouldnt they claim?0 -
