Hi,
We are moving house soon cos of flooded home. The one we are renting is fully furnished as the guy is simply going to Spain for 6 months and leaving his house as it is (lucky sod!). He has sky full package but not sky+. We have sky+ at home so was wondering if we could use our box at his house? He is still going to be paying for the sky sub. Is this do-able?? We are really used to sky+ now.

You need two leads in from a sky dish to a sky box to get sky +, so if hes got a standard set up, you won't get the + part with only one lead.0 -
No because Sky+ has 2 cables from a multi head LMB on the dish so that you can watch 1 channel and record another. Back to watching the adverts for you!0
-
If you could run another cable, from dish to the tv , or know somebody who could, just fit a twin LNB it's not very hard. most just click in to place
On ebay for about a tenner, small price to pay to get SKY+ back ( couldn't be without mine)
Try here EBAY LNB LISTINGReclaimed £1793 First direct0 -
So assuming I do the above what is the position with the viewing cards. I was going to cancel MY sub whilst away as he is continuing paying for it at the rented house. Will his viewing card allow the sky+ facility?0
-
Nope, you will need your card in your box.0
-
You can connect i/p1 on your Sky+ to the single feed and still record the one channel. What you wont be able to do is change to another channel whilst recording (no sat signal warning). So you can still fast forward the adverts if paused or recorded.0

So basically I can`t cancel my own sub so the robbing gits will be getting my sub + the landlords sub for the one house and I will have to fork out to get another cable and bits as well?0

Just knock it down to the minimum package if youre still in your 12 month contract.
If you want to get the work done at the place you are moving too, get your friend to knock his down to the minimum package if hes still in the 12 month contract.
Are you BOTH still within the 12 month contract????0 -
I ain`t within the 12 month contract. Not sure about him but don`t think so looking at his Sky box as it looks old.
I still want the full package but want Sky+ really. He is still going to pay his sub tho so I thought I could manage to cancel mine and somehow use our Sky+ box with his viewing card.
I may as well tell him to cancel his sub, get the extra cable etc needed and keep my sub going then take my Sky+ box and viewing card with us. Would that work OK with it being at another address???0 -
If its going to cost you £50 or more, that why don't you let sky do a "move" for you. I think its about £50 they charge.
They will come around & fit the new LNB & the extra cable for that.
Your box works with your card ONLY.0
