Hi.
Im looking to apply for a balance transfer card in my own name to eliminate the interest my wife and i are paying each month, currently about £100.
I currently have 1 card with £900 and my wife has two cards with a total of just under £4100 (£1200 on one and £2900 on another).
The card that seems best for me is the Barclaycard 33 month card, suggested by the MSE tool.
However I have a few questions and would greatly appreciate some advice.
If I apply in my name can I transfer balance to my new card from my wife's card?
Also one of my wife's cards is a Barclaycard (£2900 debt). would they allow me to transfer this to a new Barclaycard in my name?
Thanks for any advice you can give.

No you cannot transfer from a barclaycard to another barclaycard (regardless of whose name it is in), or internally within any card stable.
Most card providers allow you to transfer an amount to a card in another person's name. Barclays are one of the places that do allow this.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

Thanks for that.
Barclaycard is no good to me then but I have, taking advice from another thread, used fluid and they say I can apply for a 20 month interest free card.
However I can not find info on their website that tells me if i can transfer from cards with a different name. any one had any dealing with them previously?
Thanks again for your help.0 -
Fluid is under the mbna umbrella, as long as none of your cards(or your wife's) are run by mbna then you'll be fine. And even if they are you should be able to do a balance transfer to your current account (although there is a bigger fee) to pay off that way.0
