You're saying it will cost me around £250-£300 to get the car door from a scrappy, and how that is the best option. Can I assume then that you think I will pay much more for the dent?
Thanks
Up to a couple of hundred of his £250 - £300 would be the "and get it painted" part of his reply. That's optional - any colour bootlid will make the car useable and you can always have it painted down the line when you have the cash.0 -
My Daughter's first car had a different coloured bonnet for a year after a slight bump when she had just passed her test....
How fast were you reversing? Maybe slow down a bit when you are not sure how close you are...0 -
You would buy the 2nd-hand bootlid the fit the locks from your old one.
If the replacement comes with a washer/wiper assembly then even better. Whilst removing the lock from your old boot, you can remove the wiper motor to sell on.Never Knowingly Understood.

Get a new boot lid from the same type/colour of car.
Or
Remove that one, remove the trim and push the dent out from the inside, push the dent further out that you need to, then use a soft headed hammer to knock it back level.
Print out an A4 sheet, with loads of black 3mm (appox) lines running top to bottom, mount it to a flat piece of cardboard or wood and use the reflection of that sheet in the paintwork to determine where you need to tap out any dents/mounds.
You need to make very sure that the lip where the window sits is exactly right, or the new window won't fit at all.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I bet most local window fitters could easily fit a window on this to a reasonable standard without leaking etc.
Ask around and just treat the dent as a characteristic of the car.
Betting you could do this for < £100 or thereabouts.0 -
dont they use sealant/glue stuff anyway ? so it will seal that gap quite easily ?0

If OP wavers any warranty, I reckon any fitter would do it.
That's what they're worried about, being called back to fix it under warranty.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
