thanks to everyone. i am leaning towards Axiss at the moment. Tried it at halfords over the weekend and it seemed to fit ok. There was slight gap between back of axiss seat and actual car seat which one poster mentioned but it isnt significant. thanks0

I have a Britax dualfix as well. I love it. It was pricey (340) but it swivels like the axiss with the benefit of rear facing. My lo loves it too. He can see out of the window/it's roomy/a doddle to put him in and out of the car.
I just couldn't risk not rear facing after the plentiful research I did. We didn't opt for it but mothercare so offer an instalment plan. It sounds as if you want to get forward facing anyway but just in case it was more a case of really not having the budget for an ERF there are options0 -
thanks.
we were leaning towards axiss but having spoken with car safety centre guys in milton keyenes they have said it wont fit well with our car (2002 honda civic) due to "buckle crunch" issues.
then we though we will go for britax 2 way elite. reasonably priced at around £200 and both forward and rear facing. but having looked at videos it seems to have two issues (maybe i am being too picky!)
1. due to teathers installed with front seat, the front seat cant be adjusted with elite installed behind. this also means it has to go behind front passenger seat rather than front driver seat.
2. it seems there is no way to recline the seat with child in seat e.g. on long journeys. the seat needs to be specifically installed for reclining!
will look at dualfix but over £300 is probably out of budget (probably sounds awful when talking about car seat)
so back to square one i think!0 -
When mine were small I used the Britax First Class, which has an easy to adjust recline. As they got bigger I moved them to the Evolva 123. I did want to keep DD2 rear facing for as long as possible, but she suffers from travel sickness and rear facing made it worse. She screamed, constantly. After 13 months of screaming everytime I drove, I turned her round. Much better. I worked out that the risk of me crashing due to the distraction was higher than the risk of her being seriously injured in an accident if she was forward facing.
Nowadays I have the opposite problem in that DD1 is 6cm off not needing a car seat - and many high backed boosters don't go up that high as most children are on booster cushions by now.0
