What to do at Dubai Airport for a 4 hour stopover

Can anyone tell me what Dubai airport is like, and is there much to do to kill 4 hours? I'm not into shopping, but I can see from their website that there are loads of shops, and I'm told there's not many places to sit either! And what currency can you use to get a coffee? Thanks.

Alas... Dubai airport is a shopper dream, and although there are plenty of seats they are metal and not comfy. I got dirams (united arab emirates) from the atm in the airport.
There's lots of different places you can eat and drink at from McDonalds to an oyster bar. It's a great place to people watch and the connection terminal is big enough to take a walk and stretch your legs before the next part of your journey.
The toilet facilities are clean and modern and on a long haul journey I like to take my time to freshen up with room to move!
Hope you have a great trip.0 -
Definitely shopping!
The exec lounge is very nice at the airport too.
Enjoy! xGone ... or have I?0 -
Look round the luxury cars !
Watch the people walking by with gold dripping off them. Dubai airport is cool (nice when its so hot) and spacious with lots of people milling around.Sealed pot challenge 822

Might be worth looking into paying for an exe. lounge. The emirates business lounge was heaving time before last when we were there though. I have seen people paying in lots of different currency and change being given in dirhams (last time it was Au dollars). the duty free is very good and although you don't do shopping there is all types including a large bookshop0

brilliant, thanks for all your advice, especially about the fact there's a bookshop! I've got a combination of euros, dollars and Yuan for my trip, and I love people watching so I'll sit with a coffee and watch the world go buy at 2am!0
