Jet 2 baggage question - urgent!

If me and my hubby have a checked bag each (44kg in total) does each bag have to weigh 22kg or can it be unequal? E.g 14kg & 30kg
We have one big suitcase and one smaller one.

Really REALLY don't want to get stung for a fee!! Thanks xx

Each customer can book up to a maximum of 3 bags per one way flight (provided the relevant charge per bag has been paid) but these cannot exceed a combined maximum weight of the relevant allowance as detailed below. Anything over the allowance will be charged at the prevailing excess baggage rate per kilo. No single item of baggage can weigh more than 32kgs. The charge for each bag is variable depending on your destination and whether you make your booking via our website, our call centre or at the airport. Discounts may apply if you choose the on-line check-in option during the booking process.

The baggage allowance is 22kgs for each travelling customer per bag booked and paid for (excluding infants). When pre-booking additional bags in advance of travel, the allowance increases by 22kgs per extra bag booked up to a maximum of 3 bags, or 66kgs, per travelling customer. No single item of baggage can weigh more than 32kgs.

From here :http://www.jet2.com/faqs/baggage/ - what is my baggage allowance.

By the looks of it from their site you have a bag count limit and a total weight limit plus a maximum of 32kg for any one bag irrespective of anything else.

So assuming you chose the 2 bags option, 44kg combined limit then you're ok to divide the 44kg across the two bags as long as no one bag is over 32kg.

Super advice and having spent 30 minutes on the phone I have confirmed it from Jet 2 too. Phew!! Our 'little & large' suitcase combo is ok :0)

It should be ok, but you may always get that officious jobsworth at any airport, who will say that luggage weights cannot be shared, you each have a set limit.

This normally happens in the uk more than abroad. Abroad they just seem to put all the cases together and check you are not over you combined weight.

OP you should be ok, but if you can get any email response over it from HO, then I would take it with you, just in case. There are a number of agency checkin staff manning check in's for the summer season.

Their website says its a total limit not a per bag limit - though of cause the check in staff probably dont work for Jet2 and so may forget/ dont know that this is the case for them

So it might be a good idea to print that page from the website and take it with you.
