i have been to jobs where customer has got " smart meters" they change supplier and as soon as the change happens old supplier remotely disconnects and customer is left off supply
I havent seen that, the meter becomes a standard "dumb " meter. does nt transmit accurately priced energy data to the plug in monitor but does act as an energy monitor.

i am now interested in moving supplier just because of the smart display unit. i had a smart meter installed and a new display unit.
great i thought i will be able to see what gas and electricity i am using.
WRONG. the smart meter display supplied (a pipet 500) does not display the consumption unless you touch the right part of the screen and then the display reverts to a page telling me i am a credit customer.
IF you want a smart meter with a display that shows power usage without having to press the screen dont get a smart meter installed by ovo. anyone know of a supplier whose meter display provides a constant readout of power usage? it pains me to write this as i have been happy with ovo up to now

• Hi Northern78. We agree with Bluebirdman of Alcathays. Having SMART meters installed is probably your best option. If you’re already an OVO customer, you can register your interest in having SMART meters installed. Please send us an email with your account number to socialmedia@ovoenergy.com and we'll add you to the list. J Thanks, OVO

Well that's a bit crap. They'll end up in the kitchen drawer with all the other "one minute wonders".

I'll stick to my own "Watson", I'm really not all that set on a smart meter until these utility clowns get their act together.

Hi there Hengus and Andy_WSM :). We’re installing SMART meters that are part of the Government Scheme. This means that these meters should work with all energy providers. If your currently an OVO customer, and you would like to register your interest, please send us an email with your account number to socialmedia@ovoenergy.com Hope this helps. Thanks, OVO
hi.
I am an ovo customer and have smart meters installed. my problem is that the in home display shows nothing unless you tap the screen. does ovo meters compatibility mean that I can buy an in home display that displays energy use by default and pair it up to the ovo smart meters.
thanks

Morning all

I was just wondering if anyone who is with Ovo Energy has had their meters moved? Ours are currently under the stairs and are a bit awkward to get to for the readings so was thinking of having them moved so we can access them outside.

I had a look on their website but couldn't find anything about it.

Thanks

Did you get anywhere with this? I want mine moved (forget smart meters for now) and I'm having a terrible time with it! Before I moved to Ovo I called up to see if they would move my meters. I was with SSE and they said they would move them on the same wall within 3 ft for a charge of just over £200. Over 3ft I'd have to get transco etcury involved. As I want mine moved 5 ft up the wall I called Ovo to see what their rules were. I was told any reasonable distance ( and they confirmed 5 ft would vw reasonable) on the same wall and they would be able to take care of it. So I moved supplier. Guess what, now every time I call I'm given a different answer and they are saying yes to one but not the other. They have ignored 2 emails from me now about getting a quote for the one they last said they could do. I only moved because they said they would move them without the hassle of getting anyone else involved, so I'm totally stuck now and thinking I'll just go back to SSE who I can rely on!
• I'm with Ovo and have smart meters installed, is there any other supplier who I can switch to and continue using the smart meters Ovo installed
